Winter Warmth Sleep Out Will Help Keep Families Warm This Winter

By | Uncategorized

As the weather begins to chill and families begin to plan and prepare for the upcoming holidays, we are thankful for many things; and near the top of that list is HEAT.

You are invited to help others keep their heat on this winter by participating in the Combined Community Services (CCS) Winter Warmth Sleepout on Friday, October 18, 2019; with scheduled activities from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

In 2018, CCS assisted families 242 times with crisis utility situations, which a majority of the time was an upcoming disconnection date. Families are eligible to request assistance once in a twelve month period when they have a disconnect notice or are in danger of going without utilities. While we celebrate assisting families 242 times, we were still unable to assist some families due to funding limitations.

CCS seeks to raise awareness for the need of utility assistance in Kosciusko County, as well as raise funds to help keep families warm this winter. Individuals, groups, and families can sign up to raise funds at CCSSleepout.com. There will be a “Youth Group Challenge” with a traveling trophy for the youth group that raises the most funds as well as the youth group that wins the activities of the night. For more “Youth Group Challenge” information, contact Tim Frame at (574) 269-6019 ext. 224.

We look forward to seeing you Friday, October 18, 2019 for the annual CCS Winter Warmth Sleepout on the Kosciusko County Courthouse lawn. Attendees can bring tents, boxes, and sleeping bags to spend the night on the lawn, if they would like, but are not required to sleep out to participate. From 6:00 to 9:00 pm enjoy activities such as games, snacks, and music. The event is sponsored by Kosciusko REMC and New Life Christian Church and World Outreach. See CCSSleepout.com for more information and sponsors.

About Combined Community Services (CCS): CCS provides comfort, hope and resources for neighbors in need. CCS works with people to stabilize their situation through our Emergency Assistance and continues the path toward independency by working with them to set and meet sustainable long term goals through our economic Self-Sufficiency programs. We are “Helping Neighbors Help Neighbors” by bringing the communities’ resources to a single location to assist families in immediate crisis and through long term case management by giving a ‘Hand Up not a Hand Out’.
