Adopt a Family Program

November - December

For some Kosciusko County families, hardship and struggle are not just words. Combined Community Service's Adopt A Family program helps children and families by providing food, toys, clothing and something equally essential: Hope!

The Adopt A Family program has been here in our community since 1999, connecting those who can help with those who need help. This is an opportunity for individuals, teams, companies and organizations to reach out and lift up those in need, either through direct adoption or financial contribution. Your gift, large or small, makes a difference!

The program begins each year in early November and runs through the end of December. In the 23 year history of this special program, hope and joy – along with toys, clothing and meals – have been brought to children and families during the season that is supposed to be the happiest time of the year. Sponsors (individuals, families, teams, organizations, businesses) adopt families for the holidays, providing items on wishlists to each child in the family, as well as a special holiday meal.

How the Process Works

Apply In Person at Combined Community Services
Documents you will need to bring with you:
1. You need to have custody/guardianship of children, and must have (1) of the following with you today:
2. Birth certificates for all children in the home OR
3. School registrations for all children in the home OR
4. Other legal document showing custody/guardianship of all children in the home
Information you will need to know before applying:
1. Sign up is ONLY for FAMILIES NOT SIGNED UP LAST YEAR. This means that if you have received Adopt A Family help last year, 2021, you will not be able to sign up at this time. You are welcome to check back with us after the 2nd to see if we still have openings.
2. You will need to show the documents requested when you arrive on sign-up day.
3. If you are unable to attend during the signup hours you can arrange for someone to come in proxy for you.
Once completed, sponsors will have the opportunity to view information about your family and adopt if they wish to do so.
Your Sponsor will contact you directly to inform you of your adoption status and to setup a time to deliver gifts.

* Please note that unfortunately we are unable to guarantee that your family will be adopted.

Sponsor a Family

By directly sponsoring a family, you get a personal, hands-on experience in making the holidays better for someone else. Using the family application and wishlists you will do the shopping and deliver the items to your family. Families range in size from a single parent or grandparent with one child to families with multiple children. Sponsors are able to pick a family based on the application.

How the Process Works

  2. Browse Families: based on size, location, and story
  3. Adopt a Family: Confirm with CCS staff on the family that you would like to adopt
  4. Receive Family Info: You will receive necessary information regarding the family you have selected
  5. Contact Adopted Family: CCS encourages you to contact your family to let them know you have selected them. You may also ask clarifying questions and schedule a time for delivery of gifts.
  6. Deliver Gifts: Bring the gifts to your family and make a difference in their lives.

Make a Donation

Adopt-a-Family welcomes cash donations. Each cash donation is combined with other gifts and benefits families who were not directly adopted for the holidays.

1. 1. $60 provides a family with (1) meal during the month of December
  2. $200 provides a household with utility assistance for (1) month
  3. $150 provides (1) month of case management services for a CCS Guest
